That is just plain nuts! I've never even heard of such a thing. Absolutely amazing. Bending five 1/4" boards exactly right and then jointing them along their length on two sides to get invisible seams seem like nothing short of magic. There should be a special name for luthiers with your skills. Either that or I should just stop calling myself a luthier and call myself a hack who slaps together musical instruments only the blind or mentally infirm would appreciate.

Yeah, that is a cool technique. I suppose an archtop guitar could be made that way as well, but I'm thinking it could be nice if applied to a (flat top) guitar back. It looks a lot more manageable than a renaissance style vaulted back, and might be a nice alternative to a carved or pressed back. (I like those old Guilds and Gibson Gospels with arched backs)

I haven't been around here for a while and am so glad I decided to check in today and got to see this! I have always enjoyed looking at anything you posted on this project and was looking forward to seeing it finished. It is amazing! As I expected it would be. Very very beautiful and impressive. Congratulations!

Thanks, everyone!

A few shots of the plate carving and one of the interior before the top goes on.

I'll post some shots of the inlay process later, I have to track down where they are! And right now I have to head out to work.
